Minimum age to start Karate

Karate Do

At the South Bucks Karate Academy the minimum age is normally 8 years. This requirement is based on ability to concentrate and maintain a reasonable attention span as well as the ability to follow instruction.
We always recommend a Trial Lesson where the instructor will assess a new student. We may sometimes advise delaying training until a child is older. A child who finds it difficult to concentrate or follow instruction will present a danger to themselves and other students in the Dojo.

We will take children from 6 years if the Parent trains with the class. This works very well for some parents as they may wish to start Karate gently, or maybe would have to wait for their children.
